In this Act, unless the subject or the context otherwise requires,—
(a) "Land" means any land in the enjoyment of someone and includes walls, houses, trees permanently attached to it and the word also refers to any thing permanently attached to such land.

(b) "Public Work" means work for the benefit, benefit or use of the general public or work done on behalf of the "Nepal Government or State Government" and the term also refers to the following work:
(1) Project approved by Nepal government,

(2) Project to be conducted by local level.
(c) "Local Officer" means an officer appointed by the Government of Nepal. In such an officer, the Chief District Officer should be considered.
(d) "Interested person" shall mean a person who is entitled to compensation or compensation for acquiring land under this Act.
(e) "Institution" means companies, development committees and institutes established or formed in accordance with the prevailing laws.
